The Ville

The Ville has been a landmark venue in Townville since opening in 1986, as the only venue at the time that offered traditional table gambling as well as gaming machines. In 2014, there was a joint venture to buy the hotel for $70 million dollars and then injecting a further $20 million with the intention of enhancing all aspects of the hotel. Then in 2021, a $43 million refurbishment that included the addition of a business centre, and entertainment complex known as ‘The Ville’. Further renovations are a ballroom and a modern, multi-purpose performance and conference venue with a member’s room. ‘

With regards to the AV fit out for the venue, local expertise Darryl Byrne from North Queensland Audio Visual (NQAV), supported by Australia Music Group came up with the strategy for an internal solution providing flexibility in the scale of performance for events. The intention was to have a fully-equipped, state of the art venue for Townsville that included a Creston control system that could be managed by anyone with network connectivity between the member’s area and the refurbished ballroom. Also in the Barrier Reef Room, the main stage PA has a Turbosound Manchester Series line array using the MV212-XV components and a pair of Lab Gruppen PLM 12K amplifiers with a Midas M32 console and a Dante expansion module with a Midas DL32 stage box. There is also a new lighting fitting installed with 16 lighting fixtures set up on stage, controlled by a Lightshark LS-1 console. Everything in the room can be easily controlled using a single USB-C cable and a PC, smartphone or tablet.
